Grant Programs

Organizations can apply for:

Small Grants. These grants are generally in amounts between $5,000 and $15,000 per year. Requests for multi-year grants (up to three years) will be considered in the Small Grant Program. These grants are available for program and project support, as well as for general operating expenses. A Letter of Intent is required for organizations that have not received funding within the past three years.

Large Grants. These grants are by invitation only; therefore, a Letter of Intent is always required. Through its large grant program, the Foundation is looking to help move an organization to a new operational level, support innovation or test new approaches to enduring problems, fund one-time special needs, and/or provide support at the end of a capital campaign. In particular, the Foundation is interested in supporting programs that:

  • Increase access to and consumption of nutritious food,
    and advance reforms in the food system;
  • Advance educational equity in grades pre-kindergarten-12;
  • Increase access to health care; or,
  • Increase awareness, protection and preservation of the natural environment
Large grants are not intended to support general operations. For the most part, invitations are reserved for those organizations with which the Foundation has an existing relationship. Large grants typically range between $20,000 and $50,000. Multi-year requests are not considered in this category.  Please include the amount and purpose of the funds requested in the Letter of Intent.
