412 Food Rescue uses technology to connect food retailers with excess food to nonprofits and locates a volunteer force for the delivery. Founded in 2015, 412 Food Rescue is now a leading food rescue organization serving several U.S cities. This effective organization merges complex logistics, technology, and volunteers to ensure recovered food reaches communities in need. To date, the organization has rescued over 20 million pounds of food and engages more than 15,000 volunteers virtually. 412 Food Rescue works with 5,500 food donors and more than 2,700 nonprofit partners.

By partnering with local partners who use the 412 app, it hopes to use this technology to establish recovery efforts in 30 cities by 2023 and 100 cities by 2022.
