Letter of Intent

Information for Letter of Intent Applicants

The Foundation has two Letter of Intent deadlines per year: June 30 for Fall applicants and December 1st for Spring applicants.

Letters are accepted through our online application system only. Hard copies are not accepted.

There is a four-week window in advance of each deadline when letters are accepted (a link will appear on our website; on this page and other locations on the site.)  Letters are not reviewed on a rolling basis.

Please see the descriptions for each grant program below for more information about submitting a Letter of Intent.

Only one letter of intent, regardless of result, may be submitted per calendar year.

General Guidelines

The letter of intent should describe your organization, and the purpose for which funding is being sought. Include the organization's total budget amount, total project costs (if applicable), and request amount. The letter should not exceed the equivalent of two pages in a Microsoft Word document. Please conserve your resources and do not submit additional material with your letter of intent. If your organization is invited to submit a full proposal, you will have the opportunity to submit additional material at that time.

Applicants will be notified of all decisions via-email. We recommend adding administrator@grantinterface.com to your address book to ensure that e-mails sent by the Foundation reach your inbox safely.

In the Community Grant Program (grant funding ranges from $5,000 - $15,000 per year)

Organizations that have not received funding from the Foundation in the past year are required to submit a letter of intent. The Claneil Foundation will notify you via e-mail as to whether or not a full proposal will be invited for consideration.

The next deadline for Community Grant Letters of Intent is December 1, 2015.

In the Special Project Fund (grant funding ranges from $30,000 - $100,000)
*Spring cycle only (Fall cycle by board invitation)

All organizations seeking grant funding in this category are required to submit a letter of intent. The Claneil Foundation will notify you by mail as to whether or not a full proposal will be invited for consideration. Please note: letters of intent for consideration in the Special Project Fund are accepted during the Spring funding cycle only (see deadlines below). Invited applicants will receive an email from the Foundation with instructions on how to submit their letter.

Letters of Intent are not accepted in the Emerging Leaders Fund, Proactive or Discretionary Grant programs.
